Dysport® is approved to temporarily diminish the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines located between the eyebrows. These specific types of wrinkles are also called glabellar lines.

How does it work?

Frown lines develop when muscles that control facial expressions are used over and over again, causing the muscles to tighten. Dysport® weakens these muscles for approximately 12 to 16 weeks, which allows the frown lines to smooth out. The injection is made up of botulinum toxin but is a different dose than other similar products. Dysport® is injected into five different points located above and between the eyebrows.

Dysport® has an onset that is slightly quicker when compared to Botox®. It also covers a wider area, which can be beneficial for patients with longer frown lines.

What can I expect?

One treatment of Dysport® takes only 10 to 20 minutes. Most patients see results in just two to three days following the injection and can last up to four months. No downtime is required following the injection, but you may notice some irritation at the injection site.

You may need another injection about 12 weeks after the first one. The results of repeat injections are often comparable to the results you saw after the first.
